I do !

When looking at the homemade videos posted in the last days, feeding the “Professional” media, replacing it, it is impossible to remain indifferent.

Among my own ignorance and dozens of questions, one thing seems clear to me, the fragrance of freedom is in the air, everywhere.

Crying out in silence like the standing man protest or crying out loud Wake up Brasil in front of the world while hosting a global sports tournament, the message, to me, seems to be incredible similar.

Enough of autism, corruption and repression from ruling parties, governments, Presidents, opposition parties and political “satellites” that make a living out of tax payers contributions.

The “Fragance” of freedom is spreading faster and faster, from Gezy Park, Instambul to Avenida Paulista, São Paulo, but also over the last years from Sidi Bouzid, Tunisia, with the self-immolation of Mohamed Bouazizi, followed by Libya and Egypt just to name few.

APPhotoAll of the above have become living expressions of our new world.

What can I see from my window?

A place that despite the official attempts to control, filter, ban and persecute the ones with different opinions, continues to change, and because we are talking about it, for the better.

A transversal voice to all human beings, engraved in our hearts seems to be more powerful than any cultural, economic or religious, apparent, division.

This voice is growing stronger and will continue to do so, can anyone possibly see it going the other way?

What are we waiting to reform the political system in democratic countries?

We have the means, the technology and apparently the will to become better at making decisions that impact our lives.

What can we learn from crowd sourcing, open innovation, crowd funding, crowd consultation, participative public budgets allocation and other new movements to bridge the gap between people and decisions?

I don’t think I am alone seeing a tremendous opportunity opening in front of our eyes for renewed political parties and new political parties appear in our societies supported by a new breed of ministers and prime ministers*

We don’t need more drama or misery; we need men and women willing to make a difference, responsible and timely accurate, the time is Now!

Some call it at revolution, I rather see it as disruptive innovation.

If you don’t know how to start, let me give you a little help.

Summer vacations (for the ones in the north hemisphere) are coming, try to look into the new book – Why Nations Fail – Brilliant in its simplicity and power.

And who knows, might help you to take your next step, becoming more engaged defining your own future.

Have a wonderful Week!

* The dictionary definition of minister mentions clearly a person acting as the agent or instrument of another, to give service, care or aid.
